GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnotherapy, in all of it's modalities, is a profoundly effective, life changing process. Clients experience lasting changes by working directly with the subconscious mind.

The Department of Labor defines Hypnotherapist as: "Hypnotherapist induces hypnotic state in client to increase motivation or alter behavior pattern through hypnosis. Consults with client to determine the nature of problem. Prepares client to enter hypnotic states by explaining how hypnosis works and what the client will experience. Tests subjects to determine degrees of physical and emotional suggestibility. Induces hypnotic techniques of hypnosis based on interpretation of test results and analysis of client's problem. May train client in self-hypnosis conditioning."

This program is designed for people who wish to become certified in the profession of Hypnotherapist, for those people all ready in the counseling profession who may wish to expand their existing practice and for people in the medical profession who want to add hypnosis techniques to their practice.

HYPNOTHERAPY TRAINING

The Denver School of Hypnotherapy offers 500 hours of training in the basics of hypnosis, advanced hypnosis techniques, hypnotherapist skills, clinical hypnotherapist skills, including an introduction to NLP, Gestalt, Alchemical, and Ericksonian modalities along with counseling techniques and skills.

The school's approach to hypnotherapy is to offer a variety of hypnosis modalities and techniques and then combine them with "conventional" counseling skills and procedures to produce the best outcome possible for the client.  This program specifically focuses on the skills required to offer those services most commonly requested of hypnotherapists. Training relies heavily on classroom lectures, discussions, and demonstrations, student interaction as well as supervised one-on-one and group practice sessions. Those students learning clinical hypnotherapist skills will also have supervised one-on-one sessions with people from the general public.

THE DENVER SCHOOL OF HYPNOTHERAPY

The incentive for founding The Denver School Of Hypnotherapy came from a need for a high quality hypnotherapy school in Colorado that offered at least 300 classroom hours of training, (which is the generally accepted number of hours for most professional organizations) Other unique aspects of DSH is providing training in several major modalities and an internship program where the student acquires real life experience resolving ten (10) supervised cases. With documented resolutions on file with DSH the student is eligible to receive the Clinical Hypnotherapist Certificate.

The Denver School of Hypnotherapy is owned and operated by Pam Mills, Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist.

POLICIES AND REGULATIONS

STANDARDS OF PROGRESS AND GRADING

Sixty percent (60%) of the pass/fail grade is based upon satisfactorily performing each technique within

the different modalities. The other forty percent (40%) is comprised of class participation, review questions, synopsis, book reports, and other class assignments. Students will be evaluated on their performance in the practice sessions. Failure to exhibit satisfactory knowledge of the material and performance progress in the practice sessions will require the student to schedule additional individual instruction paid for on a reasonable hourly rate ($15-$20). Students may also be required to audit particular portions of the training prior to receiving certification.

Final certification will be determined by  DSH and its directors. Student knowledge will be evaluated on the basis of written and/or oral quizzes; and a final exam administered at the conclusion of HY 350. Students are required to receive a grade of 90 or above for certification. Students who fail to pass any

exam will take a make-up exam to qualify for certification. Students will receive the scores from their examinations and will have on going session evaluation sheets. They will be kept current on their progress. The decision to certify a student will take into consideration the instructors, Teaching Assistants, and test session judge's evaluations based upon student performance and understanding of the material taught.

TARDINESS

Tardiness of more than five minutes, unless for an exceptional reason, is considered unacceptable. Tardy students will not be allowed into the room until a break or other appropriate time. Repeated tardiness is grounds for termination.

CONDUCT POLICY

All students are expected to act maturely and are required to respect other students and faculty members. Possession of weapons, illegal drugs, and alcohol of any kind are not allowed at any time on school property. Any violation of school policies may result in permanent dismissal from school. Smoking is permitted only in designated outside smoking area and only during designated breaks.

DISMISSAL

Because of the nature of the practice sessions, information disclosed by anyone is to remain confidential and is not to be discussed outside of the class. Anyone found in violation of this policy will be immediately permanently dismissed from the school.

Any student may be dismissed for violations of rules and regulations of the school, as set forth in school publications. A student also may be withdrawn from classes if he or she does not prepare sufficient, neglects assignments, or makes unsatisfactory progress. The director, after consultation with all parties involved, makes the final decision.

The director of education may temporarily suspend a student whose conduct is disruptive or unacceptable to the academic setting. After appropriate counseling, students who demonstrate a genuine desire to learn and conform to school standards of conduct, may be allowed to resume attendance. The director will review each case and decide upon re-admittance.

PARTIAL ABSENCES AND EARLY DEPARTURE

Absences of any portion of an hour during a class session will be counted an as hour of absence. Early departures of less then an hour are counted as one hour, which must be made up before a student may graduate. An instructor may authorize, in advance, early departure, without penalty to the student.

STUDENT COMPLAINTS TO THE DIVISION OF PRIVATE OCCUPATIONAL SCHOOLS

Any person claiming loss of tuition of fees as a result of a deceptive trade or sales practice, may file a written complaint with the Division against the school. A complaint must be filed within two years after

What our Grads Have to Say:

"The Denver School Of Hypnotherapy is the best hypnosis school this side of the Mississippi."
Lillian Pettinato, RN, CA, CCHT,  Aurora, Colorado

"The Denver School Of Hypnotherapy put me in contact with brilliant minds in the field of hypnotherapy. The instructors challenged me in ways that helped me to grow not only as professional, but in spirit as well. I began school with one goal in mind and finished truly believing that the possibilities are endless." Karen Bennett, CCHT, Parker, Colorado

"Before I decided to attend the Denver School of Hypnotherapy, I had been looking around for a good school in the Denver area for almost two years and I could not make up my mind to enroll in any of the schools that I came across. Finally I learned about the Denver School of Hypnotherapy. I did not waste any time to meet with Pam Mills to discuss the program. She explained to me the lay out of 500 hours serious program with extensive exposure to therapeutic concepts, theories and hands on experience. I made up my mind right then there and registered.

One of the things quite remarkable about this school is that it has highly qualified and experienced faculty members who are very passionate about the subject they teach. They make sure that the students get the best of training in actual sessions with real clients. They encourage inquisitive spirit and learning interaction among the students which compounds the individual and group learning. Having completed the ten month learning and training in hypnotherapy in the Denver School Hypnotherapy, I feel very confident and competent to practice hypnotherapy and I am having great success with my clients".
